Stay Light

Spirituality doesn't need to be serious. The Spirit is light- to nourish this part of yourself it is important to make room for playfulness. In my classes I tend to lead students from a grounded space balanced with fluidity and fun. When honoring oneself in a yoga pose practice mindset is so important. If we feed the Ego on the mat, it will limit our practice creating rigidity. What we are seeking to do is to cultivate an internal harmony on the mat so that we can shift our mindset in life. This process takes time. It takes you making a promise to yourself that you are going to do whatever it takes to find your True Self. It takes realizing that you are a being that consists of a body, breath/energy, senses/emotions, intelligence and spirit. All of these things are you. For true vitality we must nourish all of ourselves. Many people deny their spirit or don't believe that it exists. I'm here to tell you that it does! Our human existence on Earth, our mysterious creation and presence in the ever expanding Universe is proof. How do you find your spirit if its lost? Your true essence? You practice! You remind yourself! You shine light on patterns of behaviors and habits of thoughts that no longer are in line with the person who you want to be. This work is long, hard, confusing and difficult. It's also worth every freaking moment because of the freedom that it affords your soul while you're here on Earth. It helps you to evolve and grow. That was a lot! No need to worry about all of it right now. Perhaps you just want to feel better in your own skin- I got your back! Start consistently moving your body in connection with your breath! Once a week, twice a week, five times a week, daily- doesn't matter where you start but begin now! I will theme the next several weeks of yoga movement classes with the Yamas and Niyamas to cultivate awareness of mindset. These are the Yoga 8 Fold Path code of ethics- how to live a life of integrity. This week it's Ahimsa, cultivation of loving kindness and compassion in thought, word and deed.
