We have choice- free will in how we show up in the world. Every day, every moment, every breath- we have a choice to behave from a place of awareness or from a place of habit. Awareness takes work and sometimes we humans need to unplug because we are toast. Being a human is exhausting with all the emotions and thoughts running around like drunken monkeys all day long. A secret/not so secret remedy for the human condition is Yoga exercises. Breathing, mindfulness and movement techniques train your nervous system how to chill out. Expect confusion and resistance to be stops along the way. A yoga practice is powerful because it assists in the wrangling of the mind into the moment. Then the mind learns to slow because it has to pay attention to the breathing and the movement. This type of practice when engaged upon regularly builds awareness through continuous self study. You begin to journey within. It just happens.
I highly recommend this stuff as I've been a yoga student 18 years, teacher 13 years. My understanding of the magic of yoga continues to deepen with each new opportunity I have to go within and do the work myself. This yoga adventure is ultimately about loving yourself enough to take time for yourself and choosing to do better today then you did yesterday. Even if you don't do a yoga pose practice- learn how to love yourself by taking time for your self-care every day- whatever it may be.
