If you want to know the history of Yoga in America read this. And know that yoga is an ancient Vedantic philosophy and it comes from the East and anyone can study it. There are scriptures there are books there teachers there's lots of information. Be mindful of your source, practice decernmant. Yoga is an 8 fold path to connecting with the most authentic awesome version of yourself. You can be bendy or not bendy that's not the point of yoga. It's so much more. Yoga doesn't discriminate race, sex, class, religion. Yoga is special because it encompasses all. To begin to learn about it you just carve out time to practice it, leave your ego out, and leave your curious inner child in then Yoga will take it from there. After awhile You begin to crave to learn about it more, talk about it and eventually whenever it's supposed to happen, bit by bit you say goodbye to the old versions of yourself because Yoga seeps into your body, energy, emotions and begins to clear the path to understanding you are Spirit/Soul. You begin to slowly shift, change, grow and become more physically, energeticlly, and emotionally spacious. And who you thought you were before your Yoga is not the same after your Yoga. Yoga shines the light of awareness on the Self. No one can do the Yoga for you- you have to do it for yourself because you love yourself and you are worth it. Learn to trust yourself as you practice. In order for Yoga to truly work it's magic you at least have to carve out time for the physical AND the philosophy. Find a teacher that resonates with you that gives you an all encompassing Yoga experience.
