Happy February! This week in my classes I will be talking about Aparigraha, translated to mean non-greed/non-grasping. This Yama invites us to not take more than we need. Aparigraha when applied brings our awareness away from accumulating non-necessities and makes space for what is really important to enter our lives. The mind then becomes calmer and clearer because space isn’t being taken up by attempting to grasp, hold, and control more of the ever changing physical world. Through this practice an individual can remember to #liveinthemoment , to #gowiththeflow and gains deeper understanding as to their #purpose in this lifetime. Aparigraha also is about living with #generosity of spirit in action- giving without expecting something in return.
Often times we humans become depleted because we give so much of ourselves to everyone around us that there is nothing left for ourselves. Then we grab ahold of whatever we frantically think will bring us happiness, only to find that it doesn’t because #truehappiness lives within. It’s a viscous circle of loss of identity in the physical and a disconnection from the soul. This month I invite you to be generous to yourself, and to take time for your #selfcare / #selflove
