Bend So You Don't Break

This week in classes I am talking about the 3rd step in the Yoga 8-Fold Path: Asana or the Poses. Perhaps you don’t really know what the poses are all about, or you think they are too hard so you just stay away. Well, I’m here to tell you that the poses are a part of the practice, but there is no definition as to what those poses need to look like for the individual. There is a method behind the bending and balancing and it is literally to keep the body healthy and vital. Next up- it is not about what you look like on your yoga mat- you don’t need to fold like a pretzel or stand on your head. There are modifications and variations for different body types, physical limitations and experience levels. I am an experienced Yoga teacher who is 3 months away from being a Certified Yoga Therapist, so my teaching style is adaptable to an array of audiences. Specifically, my Wednesday night group class is a fabulous option for beginners or people just getting back into Yoga after some time away.
